2027
A NEW CHASE BEGINSRacers may enter a new class, team, or bike brand without changing their preserved 2026 history.
THE SIMPLE VERSION
Race. Finish. Earn points.
01Enter an eligible raceThe foundation is USA Cycling and UCI sanctioned racing. Exceptional outside events must prove their value to American XC.
02Finish in your classYour official finishing position determines the base points you earn.
03Apply the race valueThe base score is multiplied by the event’s US Cup, Nationals, or regional value.
04Build your class totalOnly points earned in the same championship class combine into that standing.
EVENT ELIGIBILITY
USA Cycling. UCI. The foundation.
USA Cycling and UCI sanctioned events form the foundation of the iMTB Race Chase because those sanctioning bodies define the recognized structure of cross-country racing in the United States and internationally.
They provide established rules, official categories, verified results, safety standards, and a consistent competitive pathway. That structure lets riders and fans compare performances across events with confidence.
USA CYCLINGThe recognized national framework for American cross-country competition.UCIINTERNATIONAL STANDARDThe worldwide competition structure behind UCI XCO and XCC racing.
WHAT COUNTS
Two disciplines. One chase.
XCO
CROSS-COUNTRY OLYMPIC
The main event.
Longer-format cross-country racing held over multiple laps. Results listed as XC, Olympic XC, Cross-Country, Amateur XC, USAC XC, or UCI XCO are scored on the XCO schedule when they are a final race.120BASE POINTS FOR A WINXCC
CROSS-COUNTRY SHORT TRACK
Fast and explosive.
Shorter, high-intensity cross-country racing. Results listed as XCC, STXC, Short Track, or Amateur STXC are scored on the XCC schedule when they are a final race.50BASE POINTS FOR A WIN
FULL EVENT COVERAGE
BROADCAST POINTS COUNT
More riders seen. More value earned.
Race Chase points measure more than finishing position. When an event provides a complete broadcast of the race program—not only the elite fields—it gives more athletes, classes, teams, families, and sponsors a chance to be seen.
That visibility brings more eyes to cross-country racing and helps the sport grow. Events with complete coverage can therefore receive a higher Race Chase value than races with limited or no broadcast reach.
THE FOUR RACE LEVELS
Not every race pays the same.
Every approved race fits one of four levels. Competition strength, event importance, broadcast coverage, audience reach, and value to American XC determine the multiplier applied to the same base finishing-position schedule.

CLASS INTEGRITY
Your points stay in your class.
Official race names can include labels such as UCI HC, C1, C2, or C3. Those labels remain visible in the individual race results, but they do not create separate championship classes.

HOW A LEADER IS CHOSEN
Most points wins.
1HIGHEST TOTAL POINTS2MOST RACE WINS3MOST TOP 5 FINISHES
The standings re-rank automatically whenever verified results are added. Race Chase podium statistics count every Top 5 finish. When racers are tied on points, wins break the tie first, followed by Top 5 podium finishes.
The 2026 Race Chase ends with a final leader in every championship class. Those results and final standings stay available as the permanent 2026 record.
When the 2027 season opens, no points carry forward. Every rider begins at zero, every class has a new title to chase, and the next championship story starts from the first approved race.
A SEPARATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Top 10 finishes build the team score.
Racer leaderboards measure each racer inside their championship class. The Team Chase is different: every scoring finish from every eligible racer is collected under the team shown on that racer’s profile.
The official team score is the sum of that team’s 10 highest individual race-point results. A racer can contribute more than one finish, but only the best 10 results across the entire roster count at one time.
All other points remain visible as the team’s season total—they simply do not change the official Top 10 leaderboard score.VIEW TEAM STANDINGS →
